Agri-Tech Start-Up FAARMS Signs MoU With India’s First Agriculture University

Faarms aims to be a single point e-commerce platform for farmers for all farming related inputs and products from seeds, agrochemicals, value added products, animal feed etc. in India.

Agri-tech start up Faarms has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, to give direct access to the farmers for the first time, to the seeds and other inputs produced by or in collaboration with the university.

The MoU was exchanged between COO of Faarms- Alok Duggal and University authorities of G.B. Pant University. Under this collaboration, farmers will get access to all new varieties of seeds and other inputs developed by or in collaboration with G.B. Pant University and first-hand knowledge from top scientists on the FAARMS app.

On the occasion, Vice Chancellor of G.B. Pant University Dr.Tej Pratap said, “G.B. Pant University is known to be the forerunner of India’s Green Revolution and our  vision has always been  to empower our farmers. It gives us immense pleasure to collaborate with a new-age start-up like Faarms who has been genuinely helping the farmers by introducing 360-degree solutions through various initiatives”.

Dr A K Sharma, Directorate of Extension Education further added, “The major issue with the farming community, especially those belonging to marginal and poor backgrounds, is the marketing of their products. Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) directly under the area jurisdiction of GB Pant University is hand holding the farmers and making their presence in villages by promoting Self Help Group (SHGs) and making FPOs. There are a lot of value-added agricultural products apart from agriculture inputs being developed by the farming community with the help of KVK scientists, however, the lack of marketing facilities is the major bottleneck. I am sure, signing MOU with FAARMS will gear up the university or university-assisted products in making farmers self-dependent in terms of economy. Such an effort might be a pathway of realizing PM’s dream of truly enhancing the standard of living of the farming community.”

“It is a significant milestone and moment of pride for all of us at FAARMS. Our association with G.B. Pant University will take us a step closer to achieving our dream of empowering the farmers of our country by offering them with quality seeds and other commodities and supporting with farm related knowledge from top scientists”, said Taranbir Singh and Alok Duggal-Co-founder of FAARMS.

Faarms aims to be a single point e-commerce platform for farmers for all farming related inputs and products from seeds, agrochemicals, value added products, animal feed etc. in India. Currently, Faarms is in Punjab, Haryana, UP, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujrat & MP and entering North East and the South by next year. Recently, the brand has also signed a MoU with Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) under which FAARMS will have access to warehouses across India that will help the company deliver seeds, agrochemicals, biofertilizers, poultry and cattle feed and other value-added products to the interiors on time.

Faarms is also assisting small and medium scale producers of seed and livestock feed from North India to expand their distribution channel PAN India.
