Airblack Raises $5.2Mn Series A Investment

This round of funding will be used to expand its ‘Beauty Club’, launch new clubs, and invest in the brand, including product and engineering

Airblack, an online makeup and beauty learning platform has raised a $5.2 million Series A round of funding. This round was co-led by Elevation Capital and Info Edge Ventures. The start-up helps people become micro-entrepreneurs in the beauty domain, through training them in required skilling and “do-it-together” courses. This round of funding will be used to expand its ‘Beauty Club’, launch new clubs, and invest in the brand, including product and engineering.

The round also saw participation from Kunal Shah, Founder, CRED; Atelier Ventures, along with Better Capital;; Vidit Aatrey, Co-Founder and CEO, Meesho; AngelList India and Partner, iSeed; Sanjeev Barnwal, Co-Founder and CTO, Meesho; Ashish Gupta, Managing Director, Helion Ventures; Sujeet Kumar, Co-Founder, Udaan; Utsav Somani, Partner,; and Ankur Nagpal, Founder and CEO, Teachable.

Supplemented by take-home assignments, the start-up currently delivers 45,000 hours of live classes every month. Airblack has long-duration courses with a maximum stretching to 120 days, and fees start from Rs 10,000. Short-duration courses are up to 5 days with fees as low as Rs 150.  Airblack recently roped in senior personnel from firms such as OYO, Bain & Co, and WhiteHatJr.
