Amazon is planning to call its employees to work three days a week from September 2021 onwards. These guidelines are way more relaxed than its March 2021 orders which required more employee presence in the office. The idea was to reinforce an office-centric culture.
However, as per the new guidelines, the employees can work remotely for up to four weeks a year, as long as they are in the USA. As per Amazon’s blog post, the specific days of the week a person works are up to the leadership team, for an exemption the person has to apply, and if granted they will not have a designated office space. However, the sales and customer personnel can continue working remotely. In a Thursday blog post, Amazon said, “Our thinking is predicated on what we believe will be most beneficial for customers, while also trying to give employees more flexibility in their work environment and lives,” reads the post.
