CoLearn Raises $10M Series A Investment Led By GSV, AWI

Launched recently in August 2020 in Indonesia, CoLearn has reached more than 3.5 million students. The company focuses heavily on teacher training programmes to improve the quality of education.

EdTech start-up CoLearn based out of Indonesia has raised $10 million Series A funding led by US-based investor GSV Ventures, and Alpha Wave Incubation (AWI). Existing investors, like AC Ventures and Sequoia Capital India’s Surge also participated in this round of funding. The fund-raise, is the US-based fund’s first investment in Indonesia.

Launched recently in August 2020 in Indonesia, CoLearn has reached more than 3.5 million students. The company focuses heavily on teacher training programmes to improve the quality of education. It expects to have more than 200 trained teachers over the next two years to effectively supplement students’ learning from school, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

The start-up’s AI driven problem-solving allows students to receive high-quality and instant homework support. It provides step-by-step video solutions created by the top tutors in the country to help students overcome anxiety associated with difficult subjects, by assisting with conceptual mastery. The company remains heavily focused on teacher training programmes to improve the quality of education. It expects to supplement students’ learning from school, particularly in STEM education.

CoLearn has also built a strong technology team in UAE and India and is actively looking to double its team size by the year-end with a focus on recruiting for engineering, data science, and product.
