Chocolate Oatmeal Cake Recipe

I had this cake on mind for quite a long time. I wanted to make a plain oats cake with no icing or nothing which can be served with tea, milk or coffee. Finally i created this recipe few days back and it worked so well.

About this Recipe

Whole wheat oats are oats that have not been ground down or refined to remove two-thirds of each seed. Steel cut, rolled oats and grains that are still in;seed; form are all whole grain oats, which means the bran, endosperm, and germ of each oat is still intact. Refined oats typically only contain the endosperm, which does not provide as many nutritional benefits as the other two parts. Whole grain oats include barley, rye, and oatmeal, which can be used in a variety of recipes and cooking methods. Eggless cakes, such as banana cake, truffle cake, or even a decadent, eggless chocolate
cake, are just as tasty as those with eggs. As a result of this reality, baking eggless cakes takes longer. To make a good eggless cake recipe, a variety of ingredients must be used in place of eggs.

This cake has very few ingredients which you already have on hand. I used atta in this recipe and it was so good. The oats added nice texture to the cake and the cocoa powder added a nice chocolaty taste.

Ingredients For Chocolate Oatmeal Cake 

Wheat Flour :
It has a lighter colour and a milder flavour, but it still provides all of the whole grain benefits because the bran, germ, and endosperm are all preserved. As a result, white whole wheat flour is an excellent ingredient for whole grain baking, including breads, pastries, and everything in between.

Jaggery :
It’s a healthier natural alternative to refined sugar that tastes just as good. Though it has an earthy flavour, you won’t notice it in the cake.

Cocoa Powder :
Cocoa powder is primarily used as a flavouring agent in baked goods such as cookies, ice cream, dairy drinks, and cakes. Aside from flavouring, it is also used in the production of coatings for confectioners or frozen desserts. Cocoa powder is also used in the beverage industry, for example, to make chocolate milk.

I made this cake plain and simple with just water as the wet ingredients. That addition of water made this cake so moist and soft. I have another version of oats cake which has egg in it, will share it soon. Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

Chocolate Oatmeal Cake Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 180 degree C. Oil a 20 cm square baking pan and coat it with flour. Set aside.
  • Powder oats coarsely and set aside.
  • Mix flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda and cocoa. Mix well and set aside.
  • Take water, sugar, oil in a bowl and mix well.
  • Add in dry ingredients and mix well.
  • Pour this in baking pan and bake for 25 to 30 mins.
  • Remove it and let it cool for 10 mins. Invert it to a board and let it cool down.
  • Sprinkle top with icing sugar and slice into squares.
  • Serve.
