Sticky Orange Rolls Recipe

Orange rolls are my recent favourite. I wanted to make orange rose for a very long time finally I was able to make it past week. It turned out to be super delicious and I loved it to the core. Orange Rolls are very simple to make you just need the basic ingredients which is available in your pantry and it can be made in less than two hours. This is a perfect recipe to make on a weekend and enjoy throughout the week.

About Orange Rolls Recipe

Orange rolls or sticky orange rolls is soft buttery buns baked over a sticky orange sauce. Orange rolls are perfect for parties or on a special weekend. The dough for the orange rolls is a very basic flour dough. The door has some extra sugar to make the rolls little bit sweet. I like to make my orange rolls with a sticky orange sauce in the base if you’re not a fan of that you could use orange zest in the filling and apply it all over the dough when you’re rolling which makes rolls with a mild hint of orange flavour.

This recipe can be easily modified into lemon rolls or apple rolls or any fruit flavour rolls. One of my favourite is cinnamon rolls.

How to Make Sticky Orange Rolls Recipe

Making Dough

Lets activate the yeast. Take ¼ cup warm milk in a bowl. Add in 1 tsp sugar and yeast. Set aside for 5 mins. So the yeast activates.

Now let’s make the dough. Take flour, ¼ cup sugar, salt in a bowl and mix well. Now add in yeast mix, milk and knead to a soft dough. Add in oil or melted butter to the dough and knead for 1 mins. Cover and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour.

Sticky Orange Sauce

While the dough is rising. Lets make the orange sauce. Take orange juice, orange zest, sugar and butter in a sauce pan. Bring everything to a boil. Cook for 5 mins till the sauce thickens. Set aside so it can cool down a bit.

Assembling Rolls

Once the dough is risen. Remove the dough onto a well floured surface. I used a silipat for easy working. Dust the work surface with dough. Knead the dough once. And start rolling. Roll it into a rectangle.  Now spread butter all over the dough and sprinkle with the remaining ¼ cup of sugar evenly. Now roll it into a tight log like. Use a thread to cut it into small rolls. Make sure the size of the rolls are even.

Fermentation

Now take your baking pan. I like to line mine with parchment paper for easy clean up. Now pour the orange sauce over the pan. Place the rolls on the pan. I was able to fit 9 rolls on my baking pan. Cover and let them rise for another 30 mins.

Baking Orange Rolls

In the last 10 minutes of rising, preheat oven to 180 degree C. Now place the pan into the oven and let them bake for 25 to 30 mins. Remove and let them cool for 5 mins. Un mould, now the sticky orange sauce will be on top of the rolls. Pull apart the rolls and serrve warm.
