Pudalangai Kuzhambu Recipe

This is my first recipe for snake guard in my blog. Even though amma cooks this vegetable often, i never even thought of posting this in my blog. The reason for that is, I don’t like it. I hated it so badly. I have not tasted it much too, but the look of it makes me to hate it.

One day when i was shopping, i found this in the market. I was confused whether to buy or not. As a brave move i took one and put it into my basket. When i reached home, i was looking at it and was thinking what to make with it. Then finally i decided to make a gravy out it to serve over rice.

I sliced it up, cooked in water and added cooked dal and a yummy coconut masala, did a final tempering and walla there was a yummy gravy. When i tasted it first i can’t believe that it is snake guard. it tasted so good. Give it a go and you will know the taste of it.

How to Make Pudalangai Kuzhambu Recipe

  • Wash dal in lots of water. Transfer dal in a pan and cover it with water. Cook them till they are soft and turns mushy. It will take around 25 to 30 mins.
  • Take the grinding ingredients in a mixer and add some water in it. Grind it to a smooth paste.
  • Take the sliced snake guard in a pot. Add some water in it.  Cover and Cook till the vegetable is cooked. It will take around 15 to 20 mins.
  • Add in cooked dal in it and mix well.
  • Now add some salt and turmeric powder. Mix well.
  • Add the ground coconut mixture in this and mix well.
  • Simmer the gravy for 10 to 15 mins.
  • Now make the seasonings. Heat oil and add in mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chilli and saute for a min.
  • Pour the seasoning over the gravy and mix well.
  • Serve with Rice.
