Upma is an easy go to breakfast idea in many home. It is quick to make and taste delicious as well. Why not try this ragi rava upma instead of regular ones. These are delicious and is so healthy. The main thing is, you have to be little careful when cooking it, if you add too much water, then the whole upma will become one big gloop. But the method i am showing is fool proof and you can never mess with it.
Ingredients for Ragi Rava Upma
Ragi Rava / Finger Millet Sooji -1 cup
Onion – 1 chopped finely
Green chilli – 2 chopped
Curry leaves – a sprig
Asafoetida / Kaya Podi / Hing- ¼ tsp
Mustard seeds / Kaduku -1 tsp
Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu -1 tsp
Oil – 1 tblspn
Salt to taste
Coconut – ½ cup grated (optional)
Coriander leaves -2 tblspn finely chopped

How to Make Ragi Rava Upma
- In a sauce pan heat 2 cup of water and let it come to a good boil.
- In a kadai add oil and heat it up and crackle some mustard seeds, urad dal, asafoetida.Add in curry leaves as well.
- Add in onions, green chilli and salt, cook for 1 min.
- In goes ragi rava in this and saute for 2 mins.
- Add in the boiled water mix well, now cover it and simmer it for 10 min. Add in coconut and mix it through.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
