“I had second thoughts,” Rohatgi told Bar & Bench.
It was earlier reported that Rohatgi had accepted the offer and would take over from incumbent AG KK Venugopal whose tenure is coming to an end this month.
At the end of June this year, AG Venugopal’s tenure was extended for a period of three months or “until further orders”. This extension is set to expire on September 30.
Rohatgi had earlier served as the AG for the NDA government between June 2014 and June 2017.
