Central govt opposes Delhi Waqf Board plea to fully open mosque at Nizamuddin Markaz

Nair argued that according to the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) guidelines, a limited number of people have been allowed to enter the mosque and offer Namaz but the government will have certain submissions to make if a plea is made for the reopening of the entire premises.

“What we had permitted was offering of Namaz by 50 people on the first floor. Those people can continue to offer prayers for Shab e-Barat and Ramzan but if he is here for opening of the entire mosque, then I have some issues,” Nair submitted.

He also challenged the locus of the petitioner in the present cases stating that it is a “surreptitious” proceeding and the real owner of the premises was not before the court in the present matter.
