It was stated that the Department of Education (DOE) had formulated and adopted the scheme under which girl students were provided napkins to maintain hygiene and health. However, the scheme, the PIL said, was stopped in January 2021 putting the students at great inconvenience.
The Court was informed today that the Delhi government has issued a tender for distribution of sanitary napkins and in the meantime, the school authorities have been provided funds to procure napkins from the government e-marketplace for distribution.
The Court was further told that the distribution has already started and the tender will also be finalised soon.
