Justice Upadhyaya graduated from Lucknow University in 1991 and enrolled as an advocate the same year.
He practised at the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court before being elevated as an additional judge in 2011. In 2013, he took oath as a permanent judge.
The current strength of judges in the Bombay High Court is 66.
