Good things about the University based on your personal experience

At Chandigarh University, a separate department for the law is known as the University Institute of Legal Studies.

The thing which I loved the most is the co-curricular activities, almost after every day you can see some competition or activity going on, so if you have any talent or skill or you want to acquire any skill which you lack, you should participate in all such competitions.

Some examples are:- Essay Writing, Story Telling, quiz, debate, and many other competitions. There are also moot court classes or client counselling every week depending on the year you are studying. The teachers are also very good and the infrastructure is excellent.

Bad things about the University based on your personal experience

Honestly saying, there are no bad things as such, yes but there are some things which should be improved like many students only come for attendance purposes because they have to maintain at least 75% attendance to appear in exams.

Improper management is also an issue sometimes, because of receiving messages at the end moment and teachers are not even strict with students who are not studying, yes I know because this is not school and teachers assume that students are mature enough to know what is right or wrong for them.

So, they also don’t like to offend or point out student every time but students take benefit of this and sometimes creates a nuisance.

How’s the faculty?

I think the faculty is well better than average because every teacher cannot meet the expectations of every student, of course, some teachers are well-educated in the subject they are teaching and others are not well-educated or have a lack of experience in teaching which makes them different from other teachers.

I think this is very common in every school or college in the world. Every teacher has a different style or approach to teaching, sometimes it is liked by students, but sometimes not. One good teacher cannot represent the whole college, the same is true with bad teachers.

Besides, all this, the faculty of Chandigarh University is good enough, most of the professors are experienced and well-educated in the field they are teaching. Also, at Chandigarh University, there is an option to change teachers by taking signs from the majority of the class and submitting it to the head of the department.

Particularly, in the UILS department, the teachers are very lenient and cooperative and of a very friendly nature.

How’s the infrastructure? Mention some of the things that exist.

The infrastructure of Chandigarh University is liked by almost all the students. At Chandigarh University, there are so many places to visit, it can take a whole day to visit the whole campus of Chandigarh University.

There is one central library and one library in every department especially for the department only, like a library in the UILS, especially for law students. There is cleanliness on the whole campus. There are so many food cafeterias, in the whole university and the most famous is Food Republic {FR}.

There are so many small gardens and grounds at the university. One place where students love to sit is near the fountain, in one of the gardens. There are free medical services for checkups and ambulances, but you have to pay for medicines.

There are transportation services also by bus for students living near the university. There is a sports complex also for students who are interested in any kind of sport. In short, you will love the infrastructure of Chandigarh University.

How’s your hostel experience?

I am living in the hostel for more than one year now. There are so many hostels with different names for both boys and girls. Girls’ hostels like Sukhna, Kalpana, and Tagore and for boys like Nek Chand, Zakir, etc.

There are so many facilities available with the hostel, like 24/7 power and water supply, wi-fi internet services, well-furnished rooms from 3 seaters to 5 seaters, reading rooms, canteens, tuck shops, salon, garden and gym services. The only problem is of lack of quality of food, there is a diversity of food for sure, but if you can face some quality issues in food, the hostel is best for you.

There is no other problem as such in hostels. You will make friends here, you will become mature by living without the help of your parents except for money. You will learn new things, You started managing things on your own. So, I think the hostel is best for you if you want to save time and money and you have no issues with the quality of the food served here.

How are your peers?

My classmates and roommates all are good, thanks to god. As I am the Class Representative of my class, I have made so many friends, I am never bored, something was always happening in my life all the time.

All my roommates are also from UILS, they all are pursuing BBA LLB and are in the 5th semester. So, they all are one year more senior than me. We all become good friends, and we eat and enjoy ourselves together.

How are the placements in your college?

Placements at the UILS are good enough and the department is making every possible effort to make it better. UILS is among the best law institutes in North India and is growing at an unpeaceable rate.

It is ranked 21 among the top 33 private law colleges in India by Outlook. I don’t know the highest package offered but I know that one student from BBA LLB got a package of Rs.11 lakh Per Annum. Chandigarh University’s highest package offered internationally is Rs.1.17 crore and nationally is Rs. 52 lakh something.

So, packages are good because of Various MNCs, and CU has made a record of the maximum number of packages in a year. so, you only have to improve your knowledge and communication skills to be placed in Top MNCs.

How are the co-curricular activities in your college?

UILS and all other departments of Chandigarh University organize various co-curricular activities on a regular basis. As I have told you earlier also, you can see any co-curricular activity going on organized by any club or any department of UILS.

No doubt, studies are important but communication skills are also very important. Like, while I am writing this, there are 3 co-curricular activities that are coming tomorrow, a quiz on the basics of economics, the law of torts, and the constitution.

So, if you have any talent or skill or you want to acquire any skill which you lack, you should participate in all such competitions. Some examples are:- Essay Writing, Story Telling, quiz, debate, and many other competitions.

There are also moot court classes or client counselling every week depending on the year you are studying. so, don’t worry about the co-curricular activities at Chandigarh University, you can develop yourself so much by participating in such competitions.

What are some of the things you’d advise a 1st-year aspirant who enters your college?

Students who want to take admission into Chandigarh University should try first in some top public law colleges like NLUs or the top 20 law colleges in India because of course they are better for legal studies, but if you are not able to manage to get admission in that law colleges, you can take admission in Chandigarh University because criteria for taking admission is simple and it is also less costly if you will compare.
If you have taken admission into Chandigarh University, then try to focus on co-curricular activities with your studies at the same time because it is very important for your overall development.

Another thing, I want to tell you is that do not attend classes only for attendance purposes. Try to create your personality as a professional and do not show off.

Anything else you’d like to mention?

If you have read till the end, thank you so much, hope this will help you in deciding whether you should take admission or not.
