Good things about the University based on your personal experience
Law College Dehradun (LCD), is a flagship institution of the Uttaranchal University under the aegis of Sushila Devi Centre for Professional Studies and Research, was established as the first independent Law College of Uttarakhand.
The only university in Uttarakhand accredited with NAAC (A+) grade and UGC 12(B) status. Law College Dehradun, ranked Number 1 in Uttarakhand by “The week’s” review.
The college has built up a world class learning resource which consists of focused learning space in the form of lecture halls, projector centric classrooms, seminar halls, Swami Vivekananda auditorium, multiple computer labs, library, digital centralized library, moot court facilities amongst others.
It has a residential accommodation on-campus for boys and girls, sports facilities, cafeteria, canteen, food court and wi-fi enabled campus with 24×7 internet facilities, ATM, and many more.
The university is spread over an area of 70 acres.
Bad things about the University based on your personal experience
As such from my perspective there is no bad thing at college. However, I can share my experience about one fundamental thing – life is unpredictable.
It might be good, it might be bad, it might be weird, and it might not interest you, but expect anything to happen. For example, you might have a wonderful job this moment, and be fired the very next moment.
College life prepares you for all of this. It is a perfect blend of joy and hardships. You meet different people, you interact with them, you learn about their cultures and grow as a person.
You will understand how to talk to different people, how to judge their behavior, thus helping you with important life skills.
How’s the faculty?
I got blessed with some great teachers and mentors who helped me figure out my path in life and I’ll always be grateful to them for that, as I found my calling.
The faculty at LCD is highly skilled and empathetic, which according to me is very important and they try their best to build incredible lawyers for the nation.
The best part is that it is very easy to approach any faculty for any help regardless of it being related to the curriculum or not.

How’s the infrastructure? Mention some of the things that exist.
LCD inhabits more than 2000 students on its roll. This is reflective of the Indian diaspora’s composition that resonates the voices of almost all the states of India.
This confluence reflects a symphony of our institutional infrastructure, flexible academic curriculum, disciplinarian paraphernalia, socio-cultural objectives, academic-corporate interface and potential inducements for society centric academic researches and practices.
The college boasts certain societies like Debating Society, Youth Parliament Society, Moot Court Society, Legal Aid Centre, Alternative Dispute Resolution Center, Sports Society, Vashundhra – The Green Society, Cultural Society, National Service Scheme, and Training and Recruitment Division.
These societies propel students towards professional achievements and welfare oriented objectives.

How’s your hostel experience?
Though I was staying in a two seater room, my experience was quite amazing good since I got to meet different kinds of people from all over India.
The rooms are available in one, two and three seater rooms with healthy and hygienic food provided 4 times a day.
The campus and hostel premises are free from ragging. The wardens are very helpful and they stand with us at every emergency. The hostels have 24*7 internet facility, medical facility, ambulance service and pure water available.

How are your peers?
One of the most interesting stages in life that gives you an opportunity to explore is the ‘college phase.’ Life at college is the time when the teenage years end and we all dive deep into the ocean of new beginnings and possibilities.
This golden period equips you for all the challenges you’ll face in life and creates a strong foundation of knowledge.
The peers are helpful and we find campus groups or student groups where we can explore our co-curricular skills. Out here we share common interests, and thus share common ideas and gain some more knowledge from them.

How are the placements in your college?
The Corporate Relations and Placement Centre in LCD is fully equipped for getting best career placements for us.
This department also strives continuously for bridging the gap between academia & industry accruing dividends for both, students and their prospective employers.
LCD has taken the initiative to establish an in-house soft skill training department for the overall development of their personality.
Further, career guidance, personality development seminars, workshops and guest lectures are organized regularly to enhance the performance of the students.

How are the co-curriculars in your college?
- National and international debating events, including various parliamentary debates, seminars are organized by Aarambh, the debating society of our college.
- National Model United Nations and youth parliaments, intramural events, webinars are organized by the Youth Parliament Society.
- National Moot Court competitions. Trial Advocacy competition, PIL writing competitions, etc. are being organized by the Moot Court Society.
- National Article Writing competitions, Legal Literacy and Awareness Camps in schools & nearby villages, Quiz competitions, National Law Day celebration and Mega Blood Donation Camps and various webinar are organized by the Legal Aid Centre.
- National Mediation and Negotiation competition, intramural events organized by the Alternative and Dispute Resolution Center.
- The Corporate Resource Cell of LCD is always there as a friend, philosopher and guide for the students. The help students in opting for the right course or specialization, orientation, arranging internships/industrial training and finally getting them placed in top notch organizations.
- Various National Sports competitions organized by the Sports Society.
- Various distribution drives and awareness camps are being organized under the National Service Scheme.

What are some of the things you’d advise a 1st year aspirant who enters your college?
The point is that you are free to try out these new things and no one is going to forcefully control the decisions you make.
Every nook and corner of the college you’d find a peaceful spot filled with natural surroundings & a friendly environment. The true value of this is realized once you graduate from LCD.
