Good things about the University based on your personal experience

Symbiosis will make sure you have a lot of things to do like research papers, moots, writing an SOP for a webinar, interviews, vivas, assignments, and many more things so that you get to learn about the professional world of law.

It is these little things that would develop your overall personality. There will be cultural evenings, cine law (learning through movies), and many such celebrations to make you feel good at the end of a long tiring week.

The college is very strict with its deadlines and class timings, which will ensure you emerge out as a disciplined and organized person.

There is a great physical library. The online resources provided help us with research assignments and in studying effectively even in the virtual mode.

Bad things about the University based on your personal experience

You will remain busy throughout the semester. There will be assignments, if not them, quizzes, if not them, tutorials, if not them, end term exams, and of course, many more things in between.

In breaks, you will have to do internships, which is mandatory. The college is also very strict with the minimum 75% attendance criteria and will not accept any excuses in this regard. 

This might be the same problem with vivas. However, take these things not as bad things, but as a warning for being mentally prepared if you are going to take admission in the college.

How’s the faculty?

The faculty overall is good and well-read. There will be much to learn and gain knowledge from the things outside classes.

And if you attend the classes carefully, you will never have a problem preparing for exams.

There will be learning through the combination of movie clips and books in one of the subjects during the first year.

Most of the professors are amazing. However, there are some professors that I feel are not that good and I find their classes boring or uninteresting.

How’s the infrastructure? Mention some of the things that exist.

The infrastructure is beautiful. The entire law school is centrally air-conditioned, the classes are comfortable to sit and study.

The library contains many books and there are many amazing corners to study there. There is a moot court hall also, which is again amazing.

There is an amphitheater where most of the cultural evenings and fests take place. There is an auditorium, which gives the feel of a movie theatre.

There is a canteen and the area near it is very beautiful as it is surrounded with greenery. I personally love sitting on the grass. There is a computer lab and a conference room too.

Then there are other rooms like faculty rooms, placement and training cell, legal aid cell, etc. The only backdrop is that there is no place to play sports currently. Lastly the campus is Wi-Fi enabled.

I don’t live in hostel since I am a day scholar.

How are your peers?

I will start with my friends first and that they are all amazing!

I, being an introvert never thought that I will be able to get along with people so easily in college. Many are from different cities and that makes them even more unique.

We talk, we enjoy and it’s always fun when I am with them. This was something I read when I was deciding whether to join this college or not on the college’s website.

I believe this now! You will easily get along with people here.

For the seniors, due to the hybrid mode, I wasn’t able to meet many of them. However, the ones I have met and interacted and with the online ones, have always been very helpful and kind.

My batchmates are also good and friendly. I haven’t interacted with many juniors yet. The ones with whom I did, are always curious like every other first-year law student.

How are the placements in your college?

I, being in the early years at law school, can’t say much about the placements. The internship cell, though is doing good. I got placed with iPleaders to intern in my first year.

How are the co-curriculars in your college?

The primary activity that the college goes are moot court competitions.

The moot court society is working great and every year, the society gives the opportunity to be a part of it by organizing internal moot court competitions for the ones who want to join.

There is a legal aid center as well which is quite active throughout the year. There is the moment catchers society, for those who love photography.

There is an entrepreneurship cell also. Then there are other societies as well, like debate and literary society, quiz, sports, dance society, and cultural committee.

However, some of them are inoperative due to CoVID!

What are some of the things you’d advise to a 1st year aspirant who enters your college?

1. Try exploring things rather than shying away from them.
2. Do not miss out on opportunities, and try making friends as soon as possible.
3. Try to follow up on the classes and you won’t ever have a problem studying for exams.
4. Stay organized and timely. The college won’t take your excuses.
5. Do not depend on college to spoon-feed you with things like CV making or research and writing or give you an internship guideline or guide you on which courses to undertake.
6. The college can give you opportunities, it is up to you to take them.
7. The college emphasizes on professionalism, be sure to be dressed properly on formal dress days, with proper etiquette, etc.
8. Go for the moot court society’s selection competition every year. Even if you do not get selected, you do not have anything to lose. Trust me, you will learn a lot during the process.
