Justice TV Thamilselvi dismissed Gerald’s bail petition after agreeing with the prosecution that by interviewing Shankar and broadcasting such interview, Gerald had provided Shankar a platform to make the derogatory comments.
The judge also went through the transcript of the interview that Additional Public Prosecutor R Muniyapparaj had submitted in Court following its previous directions.
“Why did you not edit out the derogatory portions? Shouldn’t journalists also conduct themselves with some dignity? Is it for personal gain and monetary considerations, he is conducting such interviews?” the Court said orally while rejecting Gerald’s bail petition.
