Justice G Jayachandran was hearing a petition filed by some lawyers seeking a direction to the Greater Chennai police to permit them to go on an “indefinite fast” to make Tamil the official language of the Court.
The Court said that while it can never “endorse any life threatening” agitation, if the lawyers are really keen on making Tamil the official language of the Court, they should think of productive ways to realise their wish.
