Just Justice, an organization by Teach for India’s alumni, is inviting students interested in serving child rights for an online volunteering opportunity with the organization.
About the Organization
Low-income communities in India are regularly victimized by the letter of the law, due to a combination of lack of awareness, knowledge, and education regarding the intricacies of the Indian legal system. The curriculum prescribed in schools lacks mechanisms to provide the necessary legal literacy to students, and through them to communities as a whole.
Just Justice aims to equip students with the necessary legal education through a need-based comprehensive curriculum that would enable them to navigate their lives, and further disseminate their learnings into the communities in which they reside, and eventually the society as a whole.
Their mission is to mobilize and inspire a wider movement of legally-aware community leaders who will generate a similar transformation for all children and under-resourced communities in the country.
About the Opportunity
This opportunity aims at equipping the students’ knowledge at developing a legally based curriculum that deals primarily with :
1. Knowledge of the law
2. Advocacy and articulation
3. Collaboration and Application
The volunteers hired will be required to facilitate the development and implementation of a child-centric legal curriculum that covers the grounds of basic fundamentals of law, corporal punishments, domestic abuse, sexual harassment, child rights, the Juvenile Justice Act among others.
This opportunity will also pave the way for the interested volunteers to work and research on an area of their interest associated with child rights. Upon completion of the volunteering period, the candidates will be offered a letter of recommendation along with a certificate of completion.
Who is it for?
This opportunity is eligible for anyone with an LLB degree or pursuing an LLB degree.
