About Himachal Queer Foundation (HQF)
As you might know, Himachal Queer Foundation is the first resource center in Himachal Pradesh to raise awareness about aspects/topics affecting the lives of individuals belonging to the LGBTQIA+ community.
HQF was founded in January 2021, and we have been working with various schools, ITI, and other skills-based institutions, to create a queer-friendly space and start the dialogue on the issue of gender and sexuality.
They have also been working as facilitators, connecting individuals to queer affirmative mental health practitioners(pro bono volunteering). Mental health care is essential for individuals in our community, and providing such safe spaces to express oneself is one of our key priorities.
About the Workshop
HQF is organizing a workshop called Self Deconstruction Workshop from May 4-7, 2022, in Himachal Pradesh. It is a residential workshop for queer individuals and allies. A lot of us spend our lives filled with trauma and dysphoria. This is just HQF’s way of trying to address a few of these elements and continue our individual paths.
In this four-day program, you will work on the physical and emotional body. How do I see and accept my body and my being? How do I play with emotions in my life with people around me? What do I do with various labels I receive, and they impact my living? An encounter with the naked self.
About the Resource Person
Resource person Fakeera calls herself a good witch, founder of ‘jump inward’, who likes to help people go past their patterns if they are open and willing to do so. Her work is called ‘self deconstruction’ and her approach is entirely embodied and fully action-oriented. The work is like taking a reverse journey into oneself through the process of ‘social un- conditioning’ in efforts of accepting the self as ‘I am’.
Who can Participate?
This workshop is for queer individuals and allies.
How to Participate?
This is an intensive process, so there are only 20 seats.
There is no last date for the application. Whenever all the 20 seats are filled, we will close the application process.
The contribution amount of this workshop is Rs. 12000 (including the expenses of lodging boarding during the workshop in Himachal Pradesh). We believe that money should not be a barrier for learning and healing. We have partial waivers for:
- DBA (Dalit Bahujan Adivasi) Queer Individuals,
- Muslim Queer Individuals
- Queer individuals living with disability and
- Transgender persons;
who are willing to be a part of this workshop.
