“Situation not conducive in the wake of PFI ban”: TN police moves Madras High Court seeking review of permission for RSS procession

On September 22, single-judge Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan had directed the TN police to grant permission to the RSS to carry out a route march led by a musical procession at 51 locations across the State on October 2.

The RSS had claimed that the event is meant to commemorate 75 years of Indian independence, Gandhi Jayanti, Vijay Dasamai, RSS’ foundation day, and to pay respect to Dr. BR Ambedkar.

However, the police on Wednesday, September 28, denied permission to the RSS for such march despite the single-judge order.

In the petition filed on Thursday, the police said that it denied permission to the RSS and urged that the single-judge’s order be reviewed considering the vulnerable law and order situation across the State in the wake of the ban imposed on the Populist Front of India (PFI) and some other organisations.
