Supreme Court sets aside Karnataka HC order dismissing election petition against JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna

Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, was accused of not disclosing details about his assets in his election affidavit. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections for the Hassan constituency, Revanna was declared the winner with 6,76,606 votes while Manju was the runner-up, with 5,35,282 votes.

Manju had challenged the results before the High Court, which dismissed the same as “not maintainableā€ since it was filed without an affidavit and thus incomplete in terms of the provisions of the Conduct of Election Rules of 1961.

A similar petition was filed by Devarajegowda, which also came to be dismissed by the High Court.
