Punjab adds 1,730 COVID-19 cases, 23 deaths

Chandigarh, Feb 2 (PTI) Punjab on Wednesday reported 1,730 fresh COVID-19 cases that took its tally to 7,46,837, while 23 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 17,320, according to a medical bulletin.

Of the fresh cases, Mohali reported 299, followed by 177 in Jalandhar and 172 in Hoshiarpur, the bulletin stated.

The latest deaths were reported from Amritsar, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Ferozepur and Sangrur, among other districts.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Punjab stands at 17,750. A total of 894 patients are on oxygen support, while 80 critical patients are on ventilator support, the bulletin said.

As many as 4,869 more patients recuperated from the viral disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 7,11,767, it said.

Chandigarh’s COVID-19 caseload climbed to 90,008 with 364 fresh cases, according to the bulletin.

The death toll climbed to 1,129 as four more people succumbed to the disease, the bulletin said.

There are 2,590 active COVID-19 cases in the union territory. So far, 86,289 people have recovered, it said. PTI CHS DIV DIV
