In today’s featured cartoon, Kirtish Bhatt comments on the rebellion by a claimed majority of Shiv Sena MLAs in Maharashtra, led by Eknath Shinde, against party chief and CM Uddhav Thackeray. In the illustration, Thackeray can be heard getting the following response from the other end of the telephone line: “The person you are trying to connect with is in touch with someone else” — alluding to the rebels being in talks with the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to topple the state’s Maha Vikas Aghadi government, an alliance of the Sena, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress.
E. P. Unny refers to how Shiv Sena MLAs from Maharashtra rebelling against Uddhav Thackeray have decided to set up camp at a hotel in Guwahati in Assam, a BJP-ruled state on the other side of the country.
Satish Acharya, alluding to the floods that have affected over 54 lakh people in Assam, takes a jibe at Assam CM and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has welcomed the rebel Shiv Sena MLAs as “tourists”.
