Data collaboration platform Atlan has raised $16 Mn in its Series A funding round led by Insight Partners. This round also saw the participation of existing investors like Waterbrige Ventures, Sequoia Capital, and India’s accelerator program Surge. As a part of this round of investment, Insight Managing Director Teddie Wardi will join Atlan’s board of directors.
Marquee angel investors also participated in the round, including Stitch’s founder Bob Moore, and Jake Stein former CEO of Snowflake Bob Muglia, Notion’s COO Akshay Kothari, Safegraph, and Liveramp’s founder Auren Hoffman to name a few. The company plans to use the funding to expand its engineering and marketing verticals, current team strength, and double its team size by the end of 2021.
Earlier, Atlan has raised $2.5 Mn in a funding round led by WaterBridge Ventures, Bhagchandka family fund, Singapore’s Hatcher, Sequoia India chief Rajan Anandan. The funding to expand in the US market and setting up teams.
Founded in 2018 by Prukalpa Sankar and Varun Banka, who had previously founded SocialCops, a social data intelligence platform in 2012. SocialCops has worked with government projects like Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, and the National Data Platform. Atlan started out as an internal project at SocialCops has been incubated for over 200 projects.
