First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression

On the first day, as I entered the High Court, it was electrifying to walk through the corridors and garden area, as it is one of the finest antique buildings in Hyderabad.

Later, I reported to the judge just before his bench time, where he introduced me to his law clerks and directed me to complete the first-day formalities. Also had permitted me to sit in his chamber.

Main Tasks

In the first week, the primary task was to observe the court proceedings and make notes of them. Their secondary job was to help and learn legal research from his law clerks.

Later, I was also delegated the task of writing arguments for a few cases. During this week, I had acquainted with proceedings right from the admission stage to the judgment stage.

During the second week, besides the former tasks, I was also assigned the cases to write the briefs. And sir had advised me to read the landmark judgments which were under discussion in the court hall.

In the third week, sir had directed me to keenly observe the court proceedings, as we had a division bench with the chief justice during that week in the first court.

Work Environment

Since I am a first-year student, I was not made burdensome and was well guided and supported both by the judge and his law clerks. Thus, the work environment was highly adept and comfortable.

Good things

It is a privilege to interact with the judge and be in his chamber, where you can have an opportunity to interact with his staff members like court officers and court masters.

Apart from them, I also interacted with the Government pleader and heard the Advocate General of Telangana during his case arguments. Above all, you can have a live experience of swearing-in ceremonies (if any) and the events happening in the Bar Council.

Bad things

No bad things.

Stipend

None.
