Ballia (UP), Apr 25 (PTI) A 55-year-old man and his son died of electrocution in a village here on Tuesday morning, police said.
Bairia Police Circle Officer Mohammad Usman said the incident took place in Chandpur village when Wakil Sharma and his son Shyam Prakash Sharma (21) were irrigating their field.
Wakil Sharma accidentally came in contact with an electric pole he had installed around the field to ward off stray cattle. His son got electrocuted while trying to save him, the CO said.
Villagers rushed them to a community health centre in Sonbarsa where doctors declared them dead. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, police said.
