First Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression
On the first day, you will be allocated your desks and you’ll be introduced to one of the partners of the firm, Advocate Akash Rathi.
The Indore office of Lex Maven Law Firm is huge, and one might hardly find any other like it, with modern architecture the office is made in a way that it does not cover much land but has ample space and feels very comfortable and ambient.
On my first day, I was a little overwhelmed seeing the stack of documents, but the firm is closely knit and everyone will be eager to host you as an intern which eased up things for me greatly.
Main Tasks
The firm mainly takes matters related to civil and criminal matters. The associates are friendly and are always available for help. the tasks assigned to interns include drafting, researching, filing, etc.
I was given a wide variety of tasks, drafting covered the majority of my tasks, drafting bails, criminal revisions, appeals, suspensions, etc.
Work Environment
The work environment is very light and easy-going with seldom rushes of urgent tasks, overall the work environment is ideal for students in their second and third years and it is a great place for learning niche techniques important to litigation.
Good things
The best thing about this internship is that there is a comfortable environment to work in and that there is a lot of positive communication. The work assigned will be practical and one can expect to gain a deep understanding of litigation after this internship.
Another good thing about the internship is that the workload is not high and you can focus on the task you are assigned and take your time to work on it. The firm had a friendly atmosphere so the associates were always up for a great chat in their free time.
Bad things
The working hours for interns are from 10 AM to 8 PM, which can be a little overbearing sometimes. Another negative about the firm is that they take too many interns and there may be times when there is not enough work for everyone and you might have to spend time sitting idle.
At times interns are given purely logistical work because the firm is short on administrative and logistical personnel and interns might repeatedly end up solely standing in line for filing, arranging shelves of files, or delivering files.
Accommodation & Conveyance to Office
I live in Dewas, a city near Indore so I commuted via my personal vehicle or by intercity public transport.
Stipend
No stipend is given to the interns.
