The Court had been informed that the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Rules, 2020, specifically mandated the establishment of a “Transgender Protection Cell.”
This cell would placed under the charge of the Director General of Police at the State level and the District Magistrate at the district level.
These cells are intended to monitor incidents of offences against transgender individuals, to ensure prompt registration, investigation, and prosecution of such offences.
