CfP: National Seminar on Constituent Assembly Debates by Department of Law, University of Kerala [Nov 24-25]: Submit by Nov 17

Department of Law, University of Kerala is organizing two Days National Seminar on Constituent Assembly Debates and is inviting submissions for the same.

About Department of Law, University of Kerala

Department of Law, established in 1988, is actively engaged in post graduate teaching and research. Every year 100% pass in the examination with either distinction or first class. 40% of the students are qualifying the National Eligibility Test of University Grants Commission to selection of teachers. 50% of the law teachers in Kerala recruited after 2005 are from the Department.

Department is actively engaged in extension activities like giving legal aid to poor through permanently established Kerala University Legal Services Clinic, Legal Literacy camps, training programmes seminars and workshops.

About the Event

The seminal aim of this seminar is to make understand the importance of the Constitution within the purview of Constituent Assembly Debates.

Research papers are invited from all walks of socio-legal fraternity including Academicians, Researchers, Advocates, Social Workers and Students etc.

Themes

  • Changing facets of Federalism, Preamble, Citizenship, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policy, Basic Structure doctrine and Constitutional Morality
  • Secularism, UCC, Reservation policies, Centre State Relationships in contemporary perspective, Taxation and Constitution, Anti-Superstition laws, Child Abuse
  • Environment & Wildlife, Data Protection, Internet shutdowns, IP & Constitution, Law Making, Executive, Amendment, judicial review and Judicial System.
  • Media Trials, Corruption, Juvenile Justice, Inter-State disputes on Resources, Emergency, Authority of CAG, New developments in right to education.
  • Surrogacy, Homosexual v. Heterosexual Marriages, Workplace Sexual Harassment, Constitutional bodies, Tribunals and local Self Governance

The paper shall include discussion on any one Article of the Constitution of India which need to be connected with your selected sub theme and with the following inclusions:

  • The views of the framers of Constitution about the Article
  • How the Article was approved and finally incorporated into the Constitution
  • Judicial interpretation and changes made to the Article in post-independent India
  • Suggestions with respect to contemporary perspective on the subject (if any)

Submission Guidelines

  • The abstract and full paper must be submitted only in Microsoft Word format.
  • Every submission should be accompanied by an abstract of 250-300 words describing the
    relevant conclusions drawn in the manuscript.
  • The abstract must also contain details such as the sub theme which your manuscript comes,Title
    of the paper, Name of the Author,Institution/ University/Organisation, E-mail address and
    Contact number.
  • The full paper should be between 2500 – 3000 words (excluding footnotes).
  • Co-authorship is allowed only up to 2 authors.
  • All entries must be original and unpublished work of the authors and should not have been
    submitted for publication / published elsewhere. Any sort of plagiarism will not be entertained.

Formatting Guidelines

  • The main text should be in Times New Roman with Font size 12 & Spacing of 1.5.
  • All references must be in the form of footnotes .The footnotes should be in Times New
    Roman, Font Size 10 with single spacing. Authors should follow Bluebook Citation 20th
    Edition.
