Qualification
Minimum Skills & Qualifications:
- Law degree and licensed to practice law in India or a common law jurisdiction
- 5-7 years post qualified employment law experience gained in private practice and in-house (at least 2 years in-house).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with large multinational employers with concentrations of employees in India, Australia, Japan, and Singapore
- Flexibility and eagerness to work hard in fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
- Highly organized individual with team-oriented mentality, “can do” attitude and ability to collaborate with both legal and non-legal colleagues.
- Ability to work with senior management on complex issues & applying business judgment to legal issues to accurately determine risk.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice to Zscaler’s local People & Culture team on how to comply with local employment laws in India/APJ region. Topics include offer letters, job classifications, compensation, pay equity, benefits, leaves of absence, recruitment, background screening, employee mobility, immigration, performance management, terminations, required trainings, disciplinary actions, and investigations.
- Work independently and proactively to identify employment legal and compliance gaps and advise and facilitate recommended actions and policy development.
- Stay abreast of new and developing employment legal laws and regulations and develop a plan and program for compliance in partnership with P&C.
- Draft and review employment-related policies and procedures and support P&C teams, including Employee Relations, on necessary guidance, policy, and process documents.
- Manage employment related disputes and litigation, regulatory and government administrative proceedings, including managing outside counsel.
- Support and advise Employee Relations on employee complaint / hotline investigation matters and other workplace concern investigations as needed.
- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills; ability to assess risks and convey clear and decisive advice to internal clients.
