Pantheerankavu Domestic Violence: Accused-husband moves Kerala High Court to quash case

The plea, filed through advocate Manas P Hameed, stated that Gopal was falsely accused of domestic violence by his wife.

According to the wife’s complaint, Gopal had physically abused her and attempted to strangle her using a cable wire.

A first information report (FIR) was registered against him and his family members at Pantheerankavu Police Station for offences under Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt), 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 307 (attempt to murder) and 212 (harboring offender) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

However, after publicly accusing them of assaulting her, the wife had retracted her statements and appeared on a video online, denying the dowry allegations.

She claimed that there was only a minor misunderstanding between the couple and also said that she had exaggerated her story after she was pressured by her lawyer and family.

Amid speculations of coercion, the wife appeared in a second video, asserting that she was not forced by anyone to retract her allegations

Meanwhile, the husband and family approached the Kerala High Court to quash the case against them.
