Up until that point, the Bench which also comprised Justice JK Maheshwari, was hearing arguments on the depiction of the protagonist in the film, which is centred around the journey of a woman forced into becoming a sex worker.
The Court was hearing an appeal where a person claiming to the adopted son of Gangubai Kathiawadi was seeking an injunction against the release of the movie, claiming that it depicted her in poor light.
The Bench went on to dismiss the appeal, before which Justice Banerjee shed light into how she respects women who are pushed into prostitution.
