The single-judge was hearing an appeal against an order of the family court rejecting an application filed by the wife seeking ₹75,000 in expenses for a petition by the husband seeking dissolution of marriage.
The petitioner sought the expenses to engage an advocate and contest the proceedings. She claimed that the husband was earning ₹80,000 a month and she had no income of her own.
She submitted that she was looking after two children, and therefore, her husband was liable to contribute towards litigation expenses.
