Onion Chicken Curry Recipe
Hai Friends. Hope everyone kick started their week with a blissful monday. My weekend was really a cooking weekend, I made so many dishes these two days, don’t worry I took pictures of them too..Those recipes will be live in my blog soon… keep checking until then.
Now let’s talk something about this chicken curry. I always wanted to make a chicken curry which has onion base in it. Couple of weeks back I found a bunch of spring onions which looked like it will go dry soon. I thought of putting it in right use somehow. Also had some big onions in my pantry, finally decided to make a curry of my dream. I used my pressure cooker for it, love to use my pressure cooker to cook my chicken, because it makes the chicken cook until it is tender and make the chicken to get maximum flavour.
About Onion Chicken Curry
Chicken curry, also known as curry chicken, is a dish from the Indian subcontinent. It is widespread in the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, the United Kingdom, and the Caribbean. A typical Indian subcontinent curry consists of chicken stewed in an onion-and- tomato-based sauce flavoured with ginger, garlic, tomato puree, chilli peppers, and a variety of spices, which may include turmeric, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and cardamom. Outside of South Asia, chicken curry is frequently made with curry powder, a pre-made spice mixture.
What is a chicken drumstick?
The drumsticks are attached to the thigh and are part of the leg. This cut is available bone-in or skin-on. Drumsticks, like thighs, are a fattier, tougher cut of meat than lean chicken breasts, but they also have a lot more flavour.
Where was chicken curry invented?
Chicken curry is a traditional Indian dish that originated in India around 8000 years ago. Indians cook chicken curry whenever there is a big event or even just at home, and they love it.
Ingredients for Onion Chicken Curry :
Chicken Drumstick :
Most people are familiar with the phrase tastes like chicken, and chicken legs do indeed taste like chicken. They have a more unctuous texture and mouthfeel due to the dark, fatty meat. You’ll also notice that the flavour is a little stronger than that of chicken breast.
Coriander Powder :
Coriander Powder is a flavouring agent used in a variety of cuisines. This is one of the oldest known herbs and spices. Coriander is mentioned in the Bible, and seeds from the plant have been discovered in ruins dating back to 5000 B.C. Its name is derived
from the Greek word koris, which means stink bug.
Onion:
Onions are considered a basic ingredient or the foundation of Indian cooking and are used to make any gravy, curry, or bhuna dish. The flavour and aroma of onion transforms any ordinary dish into a mouthwatering and delectable one.
