Pattani Sundal Recipe with step by step pictures. This green peas sundal recipe is a typical South Indian snack dish prepared using dried green peas and coconut. It is often made during Navratri festival.

Pattani Sundal Recipe(Green Peas Sundal Recipe)

A really healthy snack to make when you are feeling a lot hungry. This is a recipe which i made during last year navaratri. It was staying in my drafts folder for almost a year. Today i found it and decided to make it live..I have alreadt posted so many sundal recipes, check out my thengai mangai pattani sundal, chana masala sundal, chana pepper sundal, green gram sundal..You can check all of them here..

Ingredients for Pattani Sundal Recipe (Green Peas Sundal Recipe)

  • Dried Green Peas / Pachai Pattani – 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Water – 3 cups
  • Oil – 1 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku – 1 tsp
  • Urad dal / Ulundu paruppu – 1 tsp
  • Dry Red Chillies – 2 cut into small pieces
  • Curry leaves – a sprig
  • Fresh Coconut – ½ cup grated

How to Make Pattani Sundal Recipe(Green Peas Sundal Recipe)

  1. Take dried peas in a bowl. Cover it will water and let it soak overnight.
  2. Next day, drain the water, add the peas to pressure cooker.
  3. Add fresh water and salt. Pressure cook it for 3 whistle. Simmer the cooker for 10 mins.
    Turn off the heat and let them steam go all by itself.
  4. Open the cooker and drain the peas.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan, add mustard, urad dal, dry red chilli, curry leaves and saute for a min.
  6. Add in peas and saute for 2 to 3 mins.
  7. Now add in coconut and toss well for a min.
  8. Add some salt if needed.
  9. Serve
