Varagu Kanji Recipe (Kodo Millet Porridge Recipe)
Porridge / Kanji takes place atleast once in a week in my house. Normally it will be ulundu kanji or this wheat ulundu kanji. But I made this porridge yesterday and i loved it so much. Its been a while since i posted any millets recipes and many people has started asking me.
I have already posted millets porridge before and this one is made with only varagu. When i had this, i didn’t miss my normal rice milk kanji and it tasted so yummy. You can have it with this thoran but i made a spicy podi chana sundal and had with that. Will share that soon.

Ingredients for Varagu Kanji Recipe (Kodo Millet Porridge Recipe)
- Varagu / Kodo Millet – 1 cup
- Water – 3 cups
- Garlic – 10 cloves peeled
- Curry Leaves a handful
- Salt to taste
- Freshly Crushed Pepper to taste
- Boiled Milk – 2 to 3 cups or as needed
How to make Varagu Kanji Recipe (Kodo Millet Porridge Recipe)
- Take varagu in a bowl and wash it really well. Now take it in pressure cooker, add in water, curry leaves, garlic and salt.
- Cook for 3 whistle. Simmer it for 10 mins. Turn off the heat and let the steam go all by itself. Open the cooker and mix it well.
- Add in milk and mix well. Adjust the milk quantity as you need.
- Now pour kanji into a bowl and serve with a sprinkling of pepper and pickle.
- Enjoy.
