Eight judicial officers prematurely retired by Gujarat High Court in two months

The two judicial officers who have been retired are Additional District Judge, Radhanpur Shailesh Pravinkumar and Family Court judge, Khumansinh Natbarsinh Meghat.

A press release issued by the High Court Registrar on Thursday said that the two judicial officers have been asked to retire with immediate effect based on the opinion of the screening committee.

“Based on the opinion of the Screening Committee, the decision has been taken in the public interest by the High Court to prematurely retire Shailesh Pravinkumar Bhatt, Additional District Judge, Radhanpur, district Patan and Khumansinh Natbarsinh Meghat, Judge, Family Court, Ahmedabad, under Rule 21 of the Gujarat State Judicial Service Rules, 2005,” the press release stated.

As per this communication, the screening committee considered the overall service record of the two judicial officers before arriving at its decision.

Since they have been asked to retire with immediate effect, the High Court has asked the government to grant them three months’ pay and allowance in lieu of the notice period.
