“We want to change this image of the Supreme Court as a ‘tareekh pe tareekh’ court,” he said while refusing to grant adjournment in a case.
The Supreme Court has ushered in some significant changes since Justice Lalit took over as the Chief Justice of India.
CJI Lalit while taking over the reins of the Supreme Court had said that he will focus on three areas during his 74-day tenure at the helm – listing of cases, mentioning of urgent matters, Constitution benches.
The changes in these three aspects was evident from the get go of his tenure with the very first week itself witnessing disposal of important matters as well as sitting of two Constitution benches.
