New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the country’s squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup Monday with the pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel making a comeback after injury.
The 15-member team comprises: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (Vice Captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, R Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (Wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya, R. Ashwin, Y Chahal, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, B Kumar, Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh.
The standby players would be Mohammed Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Chahar.
BCCI’s All-India Senior Selection Committee met Monday to also pick teams for the coming T20Is against Australia and South Africa.
The squad for the Australia T20Is are: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (Vice Captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohd. Shami, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah.
For South Africa: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (Vice Captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Mohd. Shami, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah.
The BCCI release also said Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar would be reporting to the National Cricket Academy for “conditioning-related work” during the course of the home series against Australia and South Africa.
The ICC Men’s T20 world Cup begins 16 October and ends 13 November.
Australia will be touring India later this month to play a three-match series on 20, 23 and 25 September.
The India-South Africa is also a home series of another three matches to be played on 28 September, 2 October, and 4 October.
