BYJU’s, Jio Platforms in Time Magazine’s first-ever list of 100 most influential companies.

To assemble the list, TIME has solicited nominations across verticals including technology, healthcare, transportation, entertainment, and evaluated each of them on factors like impact, relevance, innovation, leadership, success, and ambition. The result is a diverse array of 100 institutions.

Two Indian firms, Jio Platforms, and e-learning unicorn BYJU’s have figured in Time Magazine’s first-ever list of 100 most influential companies.

To assemble the list, TIME has solicited nominations across verticals including technology, healthcare, transportation, entertainment, and evaluated each of them on factors like impact, relevance, innovation, leadership, success, and ambition. The result is a diverse array of 100 institutions. It has listed Reliance’s daughter vertical Jio Platforms under the “Innovators” category along with Adidas, Zoom, TikTok, Moderna, Ikea, and Netflix. Reliance Industries has built India’s largest 4G network by charging some of the lowest data rates in the world at a price of less than 5cents a month for 1 GB reaching 410 million subscribers. In 2020, Jio raised over $20 billion capital, a testament to the value and potential of its rapidly growing user base.

BYJU’s was listed with Huawei, Tesla, Shopify, DiDi Chuxing, and Airbnb, in the Disruptors category. The users on the start-up’s app nearly doubled to 80 million during the COVID-19 lockdown, they were also backed by funding from investors like BlackRock and Tencent. The acquisition of WhiteHat Jr by BYJU’s gives the company a foothold in the US digital-learning market. In April this year, the company announced plans to expand in the US, Indonesia, UK, Brazil, and Mexico.
