My name is Rohan, I have 3.5 yrs of work experience in the operations/supply chain domain. I have done BE in Production Engineering and MBA in Operations and SCM. Currently, I am working in LF Logistics (Warehouse business of Maersk) as Business Analyst. Before joining this PGP Data Science and Business Analytics Course I was working with TVS Supply Chain Solutions Ltd as Officer which was purely an operational job and I wanted to switch my career into analytics. I found this course which has quality content and certification from recognised universities.

The biggest barrier or challenge was to switch to analytics when I didn’t have any analytics experience but only interest and passion. How it’s gonna be, how to upskill myself, whether I will be able to learn python, SQL, Tableau, and machine learning.

With these questions, I decided to jump into this course having a positive attitude and hopes in mind. I was so afraid about the course content which was totally new to me and the investment I have made against it, will it be worth it? I compared all the platforms which provide education and certification of analytics, I found GL course content and duration were rich and sufficient respectively. Their tie-up with UT Austin at Texas and Great Lakes University were the added advantages. Also, the total curriculum design was so perfect, I could not stop myself from enrolling in this course. Mentored learning sessions helped me a lot, like from recorded lectures I used Learn and practice but whenever I get stuck I had to search it on Google, sometimes my queries were not satisfied with the Google search. Then in Mentor learning sessions, I started asking my queries and within no time, I was getting solutions or guidance. Thanks to my mentor Shohel for this.

Mentor learning sessions were full of examples, not only the material provided to us but other real-life case studies were also discussed. Mentor was very experienced and he used to share his knowledge and experience with us. He used to connect analytics problems with our day-to-day things, which really helped me to connect the dots. Mentor guided me and showed me direction and way of looking at the business problem. I got an opportunity to switch to Analytics and in my current role as a business analyst. SQL and Tableau helped me a lot, I am using SQL for my routine work and Tableau for report generation.

Don’t keep any hesitation, Analytics is vast but not difficult. When you win over your fear you achieve whatever you have desired. Just dive into this sea called analytics and it won’t let you drown as you will have equipment like Python, SQL, Tableau, Machine Learning. Just take risks and follow a mentor, he will guide you well. He is not a mentor but Guru.
