Empty Salna Recipe(Parotta Salna)

Have you ever had hot parota with spicy salna on a cold raining day. My goodness nothing gets better than this. Specially there is a shop near our house, they serve the best salna ever. It is spicy, hot and fully of flavour. Each mouthful taste so yummy and good. If you ever ask me what is the last meal which you want to eat in this earth means, the answer will be “parota & salna”. Yes I am so crazy about that. 

There is something in that magical masala which goes in this salna which totally make this..Try to simmer the gravy for a longer time, so that you will get the real flavour of the salna. This salna taste best with roti, dosa and even with idli. I hope you will try this out and let me know what you feel.

How to Make Parotta Salna Recipe (Empty Salna Recipe)

  1. Start by making the masala. Heat oil in a kadai. Add fennel seeds, cinnamon, pepper and saute for a min.
  2. Add in onions, curry leaves and saute for 3 mins.Add in tomatoes and mix well.Cook for 3 mins.
  3. Add in chilli, turmeric and coriander powder and mix well.Add in coconut and mix well. Fry this till they turn golden.
  4. Take this in a blender and allow to cool down. Grind it to a smooth paste. Set this aside.
  5. Now take onion, tomatoes, green chilli and chicken in a kadai. Add salt and turmeric powder.
  6. Pour in enough water to cover the chicken . Bring it to boil and cook it for 15-20 mins until the chicken is cooked.
  7. Now pour in the masala and mix well. Bring this to a boil.
  8. Cover the pan and let it simmer for 15-20 mins till oil separates from this.
  9. Serve hot with parota.
