Guacamole Recipe

you recipes are great aarthi, keep posting more items with tasteful pictures.

I just want to share with you my knowledge abt Choosing avocados and making guacamole.

1. To check if it is ripe, the skin of the avocado will be purple in color and when you slightly press it, the fruit will be smooth and mushy. then you know the fruit is ripe and ready to use. to ripen it faster, place the fruit with a banana inside the brown bag for a day, it will ripen quickly.

2. After cutting the fruit, if you notice the browning or blackening of the flesh, throw away the fruit cos it is starting to decay.

3. scoop the flesh with a spoon and instead of mashing it with a fork which will not do the job perfectly, put it in a blender along with green chilies, cilantro, lemon/lime juice, salt and pulse it until the avocado is smooth without any lumps and all other ingredients are blended well with the fruit. transfer it to a bowl, then add onions andor tomato and mix well. ready to serve.

4. Keep in mind, u can only store it outside for 2 hrs because it changes the color due to air exposure and 2 days in the fridge tops. to avoid discoloration and to preserve the taste while storing in the fridge, u flatten the guacamole in the bowl and add a layer of water. the water will not allow water to pass to paste and so it will stay fresh and will not discolor quickly.

you can make smoothie, salad, make chapati, or just eat plainly with lemon, salt and pepper, tastes gr8.
