Navaratri is gonna start and all blogger are posting navratri special recipes..I was so lazy so far and was thinking what to do, finally i decided to share some varieties of sundal..Will make more recipes too if i have time..I have already shared the the collections of navratri recipes.

About Horse Gram Sundal Recipe (Kollu Sundal)

This is one of the sundal which i made few days back and it tasted is healthy..The cool thing about this is when you make this sundal you can use the stock which the horse gram cooked to make rasam which taste so yummy. Will share that recipe soon..So try this out and let me know how it turns out for you..

Ingredients for Kollu Sundal Recipe (Horse gram sundal recipe)

  • Horse Gram / Kollu / Kanam – 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh Coconut – ½ cup grated

For Tempering:

  • Oil – 1 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku – 1 tsp
  • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu – 1 tsp
  • Dry Red Chillies – 2 chopped into small pieces
  • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi – a pinch
  • Curry leaves – a sprig

How to Make Kollu Sundal Recipe (Horse gram sundal recipe)

  1. Wash and soak horse gram overnight in cold water. You can soak horse gram in boiling hot water for just 30 mins too..
  2. Take the drained horse gram in a pressure cooker. Cover with water and pressure cook till done.
  3. (i) if you are soaking it overnight, then pressure cook it for 3 whistle,simmer for 10 mins. Turn off the heat and let the pressure go all by itself.
  4. (ii) If you are soaking it in hot water for 30 mins, then pressure cook it for 5 whistle, simmer for 15 mins, turn off the heat and let the pressure go all by
    itself.
  5. Once the horsegram is cooked, drain it. Reserve the liquid for making soup or rasam.
  6. Now heat oil in a pan, add in all the seasoning ingredients and fry for a min.
  7. Add in cooked horsegram and salt. Saute for 5 mins.
  8. Add in coconut and toss once.
  9. Serve.

Take horse gram in a bowl and wash well
