Ring Murukku Recipe

Ring Murukku

I have quite a few version of murukku recipes in my blog. My favorite ones are mullu murukku, thenkuzhal, coconut milk murukku, wheat flour murukku, check my other recipes here..There are still so many versions of murukku, for this diwali i wanted to share most of them, so i started making them now itself..

Ingredients for Ring Murukku

  • Rice Flour – 1 cup
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi – ¼ tsp
  • Sesame Seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Oil for Deep frying + 1 tsp

Ring Murukku such a fun crispy murukku to try as diwali snacks..So crunchy and your kids will love it..This murukku is a spicy one and taste so yummy with a cup of chai. This version is too simple and loved enjoying making the rings as well. I also made some garlic murukku on the same day and it turned out just great..Will share that recipe tomorrow..This is a simple ring murukku, there is another version which is called as chegodilu, it has moongdal and made a lil different than this. Will share that recipe soon too..

How to Make Ring Murukku

  1. Heat water in a sauce pan, and bring it to a boil.
  2. Take it off the heat and add in salt and rice flour. Mix well so it comes together. If it is sticky add more rice flour and mix well.
  3. Now remove the dough to a bowl and let it cool a bit. Knead it to a soft dough.
  4. Now add in chilli powder, sesame seeds and asafoetida. Mix well.
  5. Now heat a tsp of oil till it is smoky, pour that over the dough and mix well.
  6. Divide the dough into equal small balls.
  7. Take a ball and roll it thinly, bring both the sides together and pinch them up.
  8. Heat oil for deep frying.
  9. Drop in the rings and fry till golden and the shh sound subsides in the oil.
  10. Drain it and let it cool completely.
  11. Store it in a air tight container and enjoy..

Take all your ingredients

Bring water to a boil

Once it reaches a boil, take it off the heat

add in rice flour

mix well till it comes together, add more rice flour
 if it is sticky

Fry till the shh sound from oil stops
