About the Capacity Building Programme

Youth is a vital and robust segment of a nation’s population. India has a considerably higher rate of young population, which is promising to any developing nation. Development of youth as a primary focus contributes towards nation building. Investment in development of the youth is an assurance for tremendous growth owing to better education, health, market and polity of a nation.

Needless to establish, the youth, if provided with the necessary skills and opportunities to reach their potential, can be a driving force for accelerating development and contributing to peace and security. The future of any nation is channelized through the energy of the youth.

Nation building is a holistic development of the youth contributing towards the future of any nation. It is a never ending process. Shaping the inner conscience by making them mentally stable, enriching their ideological horizons and then providing avenues to explore their potential. The youth is to be inculcated with the intrinsic principles of the Constitution leading towards an egalitarian and developed society, which will ensure a shining nation.

Nationbuilding is a process which leads to the formation of countries achieving its ideal goal and in which the citizens feel a sufficient amount of commonality of interests, goals and preferences. The United Nations defines ‘youth’ as persons between 15 and 24 years of age.

However, as per National Youth Policy, 2014, youth is a person between the age where he/she leaves compulsory education, and the age at which he/she finds his/ her first employment. It further provides that nearly 40 per cent of the Indian population is aged 13 to 35 years, which can be considered as youth. There is no fixed criterion to strictly define the concept of youth, therefore any young energetic mind and soul, capable of effective contribution to the world can be considered as youth.

Youth are considered to be critical thinkers, change makers, innovators, communicators and efficient leaders, if implied with appropriate training. Quoting great reformer Swami Vivekananda, true guidance is like a small torch in a dark forest, it doesn’t show everything at once. But, it give enough light for the next step to be safe. And therefore, youth can contribute much towards the future of a nation.

Time and again, Youth are found to be deviating from the aim of nation development due to lack of channelization of energy and therefore it becomes necessary to direct the youth towards an effective cause.

This program focuses to enable the participants to improvise their vision to the future. The aim would be to enhance the awareness, ensuring participative learning and exploring the avenues and acclimatizing their efforts towards the nation-building in the ever-changing world.

In view of the same spirit, the present program of Capacity Building has the following objectives:

  • To inculcate the values of nation building as enshrined in the Constitution of India.
  • To enhance the inner value system of the participant for a progressive nation.
  • To discuss the issues and challenges associated with youth in contemporary society.
