The seven accused – Rona Wilson, Vernon Gonsalves, P. Varavara Rao, Sudha Bharadwaj, Anand Teltumbde, Hany Babu and Shoma Sen – wrote to the technical committee stating they had reasons to believe their phones were hacked and compromised by the spyware.
In response to this, the committee wrote to the NIA in January 2022, seeking the devices in order to makes copies of the same and thereafter inspect them.
Subsequent to this, NIA moved an application before the Special Court which was allowed today.
