BJP’s Prashant Patel Umrao moves Supreme Court to club FIRs against him for tweets about alleged attack on Bihari migrants workers

The matter was mentioned by Senior Advocate Sidharth Luthra before Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud for early listing.

The CJI agreed and directed that the matter be listed tomorrow.

Umrao allegedly tweeted that fifteen people from Bihar had been “hanged in a room in Tamil Nadu for speaking Hindi” and that 12 of them had “sadly died.”

“After that, Tejaswi Yadav shamelessly celebrated birthday party with Stalin in Tamil Nadu,” the tweet alleged.

The State police booked Umrao for the tweet and FIRs were registered in various police stations in TN under Sections 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), 153A (hate speech), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code.
