Bombay High Court forms committee to address infrastructure issues faced by female lawyers, litigants, staff in State courts

The petition brought to light the neglect experienced by women in court complexes. It stated that as on January 1, 2019, Maharashtra had approximately 1,60,000 lawyers, of which 40,000 were women. Despite these numbers, the plea highlighted the absence of separate bar rooms for women in court complexes throughout the State.

Further, it was pointed out that there are no existing rules specifying the minimum number of women lawyers required for the provision of a separate bar room.
