CfP: National Conference on Interface of Law and Literature by DSNLU [Feb 3-4; Offline]: Register by Jan 5

Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University is organizing a two-day National Conference on The Interface of Law and Literature.

About DSNLU

Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) was established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, under the Andhra Pradesh Act No.32 of 2008.

About the Centre

The Centre for Law, Language and Literature is a novel initiative under the guidance of the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. S. Surya Prakash.

Literature emphasizes abstraction, originality, and variety in description and presentation, as well as a wide range of genres. Law, on the other hand, is characterized by precision, rational interpretation ambit, and a set pattern and style of drafting, as well as a wide range of disciplines. Both are under an obligation of idealizing humans and society; they both gather human experiences and implement the use of words and rhetoric to reflect humankind.

About the Conference

The disciplines of law, language and literature are inextricably linked and have a significant impact on our lives, whether implicitly or explicitly. Studies of the relationship among law, language and literature have yielded important insights into the arts, interpersonal interactions, human psychology, and other areas of society that influence the formulation of legislation.

It also aids legal education by giving interpretations, historical facts, and new perspectives on different areas of study. Thus, the law has produced literary works that have become classics, changed people’s perspectives for decades, and transformed, how society functions.

Law, language, and literature have always possessed a symbiotic relationship. Language is necessary for the existence of law because it personalizes and conveys the rules of law that a society or group requires. Language facilitates communication between citizens of a nation and assists in the resolution of legal problems.

The legal system has been shaped by literature, and authors continue to find the subject of law to be fascinating. These three disciplines come together to provide a new, stimulating area of research about how they interact and affect our society. Their partnership produced art, which inspired and shaped the thoughts of many people and produced numerous sociocultural practices.

The conference aims to investigate and study the relationship among law, language, and literature by providing a forum for students, researchers, and academicians to share their ideas and engage in substantive discussion. This would equip them with a deeper understanding of the connections between Law, Language, and Literature.
